Building a Reels-style feed for our influencer discovery platform came with a massive hurdle: video hosting costs.
When designing a way for brands to preview creator clips directly on-platform, storing thousands of raw .mp4 files locally gets wildly expensive. On top of that, scraping raw video files from Instagram or TikTok requires costly third-party APIs.
The pragmatic solution? Embedding official platform iframes directly alongside a custom script to dynamically fetch creator metadata and profile visuals. It keeps hosting costs at zero while giving users that snappy, scrollable preview feel.
The reels is still in Testing mainly because of the ui, but lets see how it plays out
