Against All Odds
$15,000.00
Against All Odds is a visceral, emotionally arresting portrait that channels human endurance through psychological and physical turbulence. The weathered face of an elder emerges from a deeply layered ground of burnt umber, sienna, and crimson, marked by streaks of dripping pigment, washes, and raw impasto. Highlights of golden amber on the forehead and bridge of the nose provide a luminous contrast against the dark background, while tired yet resolute eyes stare directly forward. The piece explores vulnerability, inner fortitude, and the accumulated weight of lived experience

Artist Statement
My practice investigates the human condition through the prism of resilience. By exposing the surface to abrasive washes, layered pigments, and running drips, I mirror life's weathering effects on the human spirit. The face becomes a testament to survival, proving that dignity endures against all odds.
